So recently GMAIL changed their email forwarding server settings. You can not just do the easy set up anymore. There’s a bit of server configuration and password updates.
So basically it starts off like this. Obviously, you have to login into your gmail account and click on the settings (located under the cog) tab and create an account. Connecting your gmail to your website is a just few steps away. Make sure the email was created in your cpanel and/or web host email client. It should be forwarded to your gmail address. Now comes the handshake that allows Gmail to accept those emails.
Step 1. Click on Settings.
Step 2. Click on Accounts and Import.
Step 3. Add another email address you own.
Step 4. Add your email address that you want to connect. For example let’s say it’s firstname.lastname@example.org
Then get the username and password created from your server or contact your webmaster.
Finally, enter the correct SMTP server name. In some cases it is not exactly www.example.com
On some shared networks, the SMTP server might be (for example)
rs12.somehostingcompany.com (instead of you www.example.com)
SMTP Port: 465
the username will be something like: email@example.com (instead of just johndoe)
and the password is the one that was created during the cpanel or web hosting set up.
Click Add Account, if it forwarded correctly, wait about 30 seconds or less and you get a email confirmation link from gmail. well that’s it. Good luck.
At first it might seem a bit confusing but it’s really not, I just realized that Google’s Gmail program changed some shit around and wanted to improve their security a bit.
Another Number Step in case the top is too confusing or not all accurate/up to date. bow chicka wow wow.
